Pitti Uomo 82 report

Last week we were in Florence for the bi-annual Pitti Uomo tradeshow to check out what's new and good in the world of menswear!

With the temperature averaging at around 39 degrees celsius, over a 1000 of the worlds best renowned brands spread over a 59000 square meter area and some of the steeziest cats in the industry coming to visit, Pitti is just as overwhelming as it seems.

Our first stop was with Italian brand The Editor, who showed us some amazing floral print gear and the first ever Saucony collab, a fantastic collection of the classic Jazz model, in various washed out and beaded versions!

The lovely Chiara from 247Showroom was looking great, all decked out in PAM.

Next we went to see Ryan and Juan from Meg Company who had brought their Chamula bracelets, beautifully hand braided using geniune horse hair and the coming season's incredible Monitaly collection. Continuing with the fantastic African wax print and Ikat fabrics, and adding Guayaberas produced in collaboration with the family run Mexican shirt-makers Camiseria Canul, The Monitaly collection is stronger than ever!

Bonus shot of Juan's amazing vintage Mexican ring!

Moving on we stopped by Ido at the Arc'teryx Veilance booth. As usual we were utterly amazed by the understated designs and killer technical qualities of their jackets.

We loved this one, created using one of Gore's latest super light-weight 3L fabrics.

Another great piece was this button up shirt/jacket, which is a perfect piece for a nice, layered look.

The extremely well dressed Dexter Peart of Want Les Essentiels de la Vie came by the Veilance booth to say hi, looking fabulous as always.

While we are on the subject of weatherproof garments, we were very much impressed with the hand cut and incredibly well tailored rubberised coats from Scottish brand Hancock. Using pretty much the same techniques that inventor Thomas Hancock patented in 1843, these coats ooze of timeless elegance!

Erlend and Mats of Diemme showed some really nice new creations, including camoflauge painted hair on hide leathers, some fine new models taken from Diemme's Japanese collection and the nice slip-ons which both are wearing in this picture

Camo Pony-hair

Topo Design's Colorado-made bags made a great impression on us aswell!

We were awe-struck by the Engineered Garments collection, which included some amazing and playful printed pieces, beautifully simplistic tailored jackets and superb 60/40 parkas.

Nepenthes marketing director Angelo was kind enough to model in this fantastic floweer printed parka jacket

Engineered Garments designer Daiki Suzuki showing us the perfect fit of the Baker Jacket

Fellow New Yorker Marc McNairy has done a great job taking over after Mr Suzuki as head designer at Woolrich Woolen Mills. The upcoming season looks really good!

Up and coming British brand Mors Footwear showed some beautiful bench made shoes.

All in all we had a great and inspiring time at Pitti this season, and are looking forward to our trip to Paris, where we'll be checking out the Capsule and MAN shows, aswell as visiting some of our favourite brands in their respective showrooms.

Stay tuned for a report on Paris!
